Edith B. (Barrett) Roberts' Obituary
Edith B. Roberts Easton, Edith Mae Barrett Roberts of Doncaster, Easton, passed away on December 17, 2014 at the University of Maryland Shore Medical Center, Easton. She was born on January 22, 1922 in Franklin VA. She was the daughter of the late Robert Ernest Barrett and Lillian Trice Barrett. She and her mother, brother and sister moved to St. Michaels in 1931 after the death of her father. She graduated from St. Michaels High School in 1938. She then worked for Easton Attorney, John W.D. Jump, and Cox Distributing Co., also in Easton. Later she worked part-time at the United Fund of Talbot Co., as well as bookkeeper for the family business Robert L. Roberts Electric Motor & Repair Shop in Easton. In 1948 she married Roberts L. Roberts, Jr. who died in October 2001. Mrs. Roberts was a member of St. Marks United Methodist Church in Easton, an honorary member of the Miles River Yacht Club, St. Michaels, and the Eastern Shore Thresherman and Collectors Association of Federalsburg. In addition she was past member of the Easton Chapter, number 65 order of Eastern Star. She is survived by her son; Robert L. Roberts III of Easton, several nieces and nephews; William Horney of Easton, Joanne Drummer of Centreville, Barbara Wood of Cordova, Jane Barrett of St. Michaels, Donald Barrett of McDaniel, Robert A. Porter, Jr of Cambridge, Arianna Porter, Jr. of N.C., Mitchell Roberts of Pensacola, Fl., and a sister-in-law Arianna Porter-King of both Cambridge, Md. and N.C. She was also preceded in death by a sister; Ernestine B. Horney, a brother in-law Joseph S. Horney both of Easton, a brother; Robert E. Barrett, Jr. of St. Michaels, and brother-in-law William V. Roberts of CO. A memorial service will be held at St. Marks United Methodist Church Easton, on Monday December 29, 2014 at 11:00AM. Burial will be private. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to St. Marks U.M.C. 100 Peachblossom Rd., Easton, Md. 21601 or to Talbot Hospice Foundation 586 Cynwood Drive, Easton, Md. 21601. Arrangements are by the Ostrowski Funeral Home, St. Michaels.
