Edith Balais Rohleder's Obituary
Edith B. Rohleder passed away on Saturday December 19, 2020 in Houston, Texas.
Her final weeks were spent surrounded by a family that adored her. Edith was one of
13 children, and spent her childhood years in Philippines. While vacationing in the
Philippines she met the love of her life Scot Rohleder. They were joined in marriage
on January 5, 1991 and spent more than 30 years side by side. 1991 is when Scot
and Edith left the Philippines and moved to Alaska where they spent 20 years living in
both Fairbanks and Anchorage. In 2011 Scot and Edith moved toward warmer skies
and settled themselves in Fulshear, Texas.
During her years in Alaska and Texas Edith was a model employee of Walmart. She
retired from Walmart July 2018 with 20 years of loyalty and service. Edith was an
incredibly strong, hard working woman who felt a sense of duty and pride. At 5foot
Edith could accomplish anything she set her mind to do.
Edith enjoyed traveling and sharing new experiences with her husband Scot.
LasVegas, Paris and England were some of her favorite trips. She also enjoyed
traveling to the Philippines to spend time with her dear family. Edith enjoyed cooking
and had a flair for baking. More times than not you would find Edith in her kitchen
watching a cooking show on TV or trying out a new recipe.
Edith was a gentle soul. Reserved. She had a compassionate spirit and enjoyed
taking care of others. Spending quality time with family both near and far was her true
passion and delight. Edith would do anything in her power to help another in need.
It was the sweet simple things in life that brought Edith solace. A hot cup of coffee,
internet browsing on her computer, a phone call from one of her sisters, or the
opportunity to make you smile. Quiet simplicity is what made Edith so endearing and
unique. She possessed the extraordinary beauty of the heart.
Edith is preceded in death by her parents Henry and Perpetua Catalla Sr. and two
brothers Jaime Catalla and William Catalla. Sadly, Edith leaves behind her best friend
and husband of 30 years Scot, 6 sisters Henrietta Falco, Emma Catalla, Evelyn
Cunanan, Maribeth Hayes, Myra Duncan, and Sheila Marie Salazar and her sister in
law Sarah Joyce, 4 brothers Henry Catalla Jr., Phillip Catalla, Eddie Catalla, and Jesus
Catalla and 46 loving nieces and nephews.
Edith had a special way of touching people with her charm. She has left an
everlasting love within each of us here today and her family abroad in the Philippines.
Edith led a memorable life and has left us with many fond memories of her.
