Edith V. Smith
Newcomb, Edith Virginia Smith of Newcomb, died at the Talbot Hospice House, Easton, on Tuesday, January 3, 2012. She was 89.
Born on June 10, 1922 in Swarthmore, PA. she was the daughter of the late, Lewis G and Laura Vernon Warner. In June 1929 the family moved to Maryland, where she graduated from St. Michaels High School in 1938. In September 1942 she married Bud Smith.
Over the years Edith has canned many a quart of tomatoes and put-up various jams & jellies. She was an avid reader, reading three newspapers a day, plus several magazines. She loved flowers always bringing in a bud or clipping of whatever was blooming at the time. Her special soft spot was for the dogs & cats that shared her life over the years, particularly Ollie & Margaret.
Mrs. Smith is survived by her Children, a son, William G. “Billy” Smith of Royal Oak, and a daughter, Bonnie Somers and her husband Tom of Newcomb, one grandson, Sam and his wife Kathleen of Savannah, GA; a very special friend RoseAnne Buchmoyer of Newcomb and her beloved cats, Lily & Chance. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband Bud, and a brother Lloyd Warner.
Mrs. Smith loved and was loved in return! Praise God for her life well lived. Her family is thankful for a loving God who loved us enough to give his Son for our salvation and eternal life, so that we live in the promise of being reunited with her in the future.
A private family burial will be at a later date.
