Edith Jones Taylor's Obituary
Edith Jones Taylor of Annapolis and formerly of Federalsburg and Cambridge passed away on Sunday, April 3, 2011. She was 85.
She was born on December 3, 1925 in Estill, South Carolina, the daughter of the late Frank Jones and Missouri Beckett Jones. She was preceded in death by her husband, Alton Taylor, Sr.
She worked at the former Bumblebee Company in Cambridge. She faithfully attended The Mission in Annapolis. She would also help the AME Church in Annapolis helping passing out food for their homeless ministry. Edith also was part of the Neighborhood Watch in Annapolis.
Edith is survived by four daughters, Dorothy Taylor Parsons of Glen Burnie, Angie Woolford of Elcajon, California, Rose Taylor McClarty of Glen Burnie, Jackie Thompson of Cambridge, two sons, Alton Taylor, Jr. (Phycillia) of Seaford, Jerome Taylor (Barbara) of Preston, 18 grandchildren, 25 great-grandchildren, a sister, Ada Grant of Savannah, Georgia, and a host of nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her son, O’Neal Scriven, eight siblings, H. N. Jones, Richard Jones, Evon Jones, Cattie Newton, Addie Cohen, Mamie Jenkins, Bessie Wise, and William Jones, and two sister-in-laws, Claudia Jones and Rosalee Jones.
Funeral services for her will be held on Friday, April 8, 2011 at 11 a.m. at Zion United Methodist Church in Federalsburg with Rev. Willie Jackson officiating. Interment will follow at the Maryland Eastern Shore Veterans Cemetery. Friends may call at the church one hour prior to the service.
