Edna Kay Turner's Obituary
Edna Kay Turner passed away on Sunday, May 21, 2017 at her home in Seaford, DE. She was 68.
She was born on May 8, 1949, in Easton, MD, the daughter of the late William J. O’Day and Mildred Catherine Massey O’Day.
Edna was a graduate of Seaford High School class of 1967 and later graduated from the University of Delaware with a teaching degree. She worked as a teacher for Seaford School District and Woodbridge Jr.- Sr. High School with 34 years of service. She received the prestigious award of “Teacher of the Year” for Woodbridge School District in 1993. She was a member of the Woodland United Methodist Church where she served in the Choir, and also served as Treasurer for many decades for the Methodist Women’s Group. She also was a member of the Delaware State Education Association, Woodbridge Education Association, the Delaware Geographic Alliance, the Grange of Reliance #58, and the Homemakers Twilight Club. Edna enjoyed reading, doing cross word puzzles, and being a member of a weekly bowling league that would meet at Seaford Bowling Lanes with the team, “The Strikers”. During the summer and weekends she would work for her brother at O’Day Farms. Edna adored the time she spend with Jim at their Virginia Home and a favorite spot for them was the Island Creamery.
She is survived by her husband of almost 46 years, James Robert Turner whom she married May 29, 1971, her two children Kristin Barrall and her husband Wayne of Seaford, Andrew Turner and his wife Tiffany of Seaford, her 7 grandchildren Lindsie Barrall, Logan Barrall, Benjamin Pusey, Owen Pusey, Meghan Pusey, Ava Turner, and Kayla Turner, a brother William A. O’Day, Sr. and his wife Donna of Seaford, Patricia A. Wheedleton and her husband Harry of Seaford, her mother-in-law, Ruth Ann Turner of Seaford, and a brother-in-law, John M. Turner and his wife, Carla, of Lewes, and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday May 25, 2017, at Woodland United Methodist Church at 2:00 pm with Reverend Linda Birch and Rev. Diane Melson officiating. A visitation will be held on Wednesday
May 24, from 6-8 pm at Framptom Funeral Home in Federalsburg and Thursday May 25, from 1-2 pm at the church. Interment will follow in Hill Crest Cemetery in Federalsburg. Memorial contributions can be made to Woodland United Methodist Church, 5099 Woodland Church Rd. Seaford, DE 19973.
