Edward Thomas Northam Sr.'s Obituary
Edward Thomas Northam, Sr. of Hurlock died on Saturday, October 6, 2012 at Mallard Bay Nursing Home in Cambridge, MD. He was 64.
He was born on March 20, 1948 in Easton, MD the son of the late Willie Preston Northam and Iona Belle Ford Northam. He was a graduate in 1967 of Colonel Richardson High School. He served his country as a member of the United States Marines serving in Viet Nam in Heavy Vehicle Operations where he received the Viet Nam Service Medal with one star, the Republic of Viet Nam Cross of Gallantry with Palm, Navy Unit Citation, Letter of Appreciation for Meritorious MAST, Certificate of Achievement and Good Conduct Medal with two stars. He later served another enlistment of over 7 years. He attained the rank of Sergeant. He was an over the road truck driver for most of his life hauling many different kinds of loads. He was a member of American Legion Post 243 in Hurlock and Federalsburg Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 4246. He is survived by a son, Edward Thomas Northam, Jr. and his wife, Missy of Mardella Springs, MD, a daughter, Bonnie-Anne Johnson and her husband, David of Hurlock, six grandchildren, Sara Northam, Joshua Foster, Mitchell Northam, Natalie Todd, Nicholas Todd and Caroline Johnson, a brother, Preston Northam and his wife, Vinh, two sisters, Eleanor Phippin of Delmar, DE and Faye Duck and her husband, Charlie of Salisbury, MD and many nieces and nephews. Memorial services for him will be held on Thursday, October 11, 2012 at 1:00 p.m. at Grace Baptist Church in Hurlock with Pastor David Talley officiating. There will be an American Legion service at 12:55. Interment with military honors will be held at the Eastern Shore Veterans Cemetery. Friends may call at the church on Thursday from 12:00 to 1:00 P.M.
