Edward V. Watts, Jr.
Tilghman, Edward Vernon “Spike” Watts, Jr. died at his home in Tilghman, on Friday, January 24, 2014. He was 80.
Born on November 21, 1933 in Towson, MD. he was the son of the late Edward V. and Esther Kroeger Watts. After graduating from Towson High School, Mr. Watts attended Washington College in Chestertown, MD. where he graduated with a Bachelor’s degree. He then began a career as a probation officer for the Federal Government. His love of the outdoors and being near the water led him to Tilghman where in the early 1970’s he found what would be his retirement home. Mr. Watts was an extremely handy person, he built his home, workshop, and garage. Mr. Watts was also active with the Bay Hundred Community Volunteers a group who provide renovations, and repairs to the needy on, homes and property in the Bay Hundred area. He loved being outdoors, hunting, fishing, and visiting with his neighbors.
Mr. Watts or ‘Spike” as he was known by his friends, is survived by two children; Brian Watts, and his wife Gina of Bishopville, MD; and Melissa Verill of Sykesville, MD. 7 Grandchildren, one cousin; Roland Kroeger of FL.
A memorial service will be held at the Ostrowski Funeral Home, St. Michaels on Saturday, February 1, 2014 at 12:00 noon. Where friends may visit with the family from 11:00 until noon.
Burial will be private at a later date.
