Edwin Thomas (Pop-Pop) King Sr. 's Obituary
Ed was born on April 9, 1944 in Georgetown, DE and passed away at home on Thursday, August 6, 2015, surrounded by his loving family. In addition to his parents, Blanche Duncan and Harold King, he was preceded in death by a younger brother David and sister Margie Lee.
Ed proudly served in the U.S. Army from 1963 to 1969 stationed in Heidelberg, Germany and Ft. Hood, Texas. After serving in the Army, Ed began his life-long career in sales in 1969 selling Electrolux vacuum cleaners. In 1979 he began selling life insurance for Peoples Security, which later became Monumental Life Insurance. After retiring in 2000, he continued working for American General Life Insurance until 2007. During those years, Ed won various trips and achievement awards for his salesmanship, including LUTCF, Leadership Club and Silver Circle Award for being one of the top 3 Selling Agents in the state. He enjoyed camping, boating, dancing to country music and auctions. Mostly he enjoyed having family barbecues at his summer home in Nanticoke, MD, and riding with Graci on his golf cart around the neighborhood.
He is survived by his loving wife of 52 years, Martha (Babe), three sons, Edwin Jr. (Phouviay) of Appleton, Wisconsin; Stephen of Georgetown; and Michael (Sandi) of Seaford; six grand-children; Sarah, Zachary, Douglas King; Tyler and Trevor Whaley, and Graci King, who was the light of his life.
Ed is also survived by three brothers, Danny King (Amanda) of Berlin, MD; Alan King (Mary) of Seaford; and Kerry King of Delmar; three sisters Brenda Johnson (Bill) of Greenwood; Freda Brobst of Millsboro; and Rita Jones (Charlie) of Laurel; two aunts, Margaret Smith of Salisbury and Catherine King of Seaford; two uncles, Jimmy and Bobby Taylor, of Seaford; many nieces, nephews, cousins, and his faithful German Shepherd, Tanner.
Ed will be remembered for his wonderful sense of humor and his gift of gab.
Funeral Services will be held on Monday, August 10, 2015 at 2 p.m. at the Framptom Funeral Home in Federalsburg with the Reverend Roland E. Trice officiating. Interment will follow at Union Cemetery in Georgetown.
