Eldon Lee Messick's Obituary
Eldon Lee Messick of Federalsburg died with his family by his bedside at Nanticoke Memorial Hospital on Wednesday, March 13, 2013. He was 79.
He was born in Cambridge, MD on September 13, 1933 the son of the late Raymond and Elsie Todd Messick. A son, Eldon Mark Messick preceded him in death on July 31, 1982. He owned and operated Messick’s Body Shop in Preston for many years, before selling it in 1972 and purchased a home in Florida. He then fulfilled a life-long dream by purchasing and living on a sailboat for a few years. After moving back to Maryland he purchased a farmette near Federalsburg. After retirement he enjoyed traveling the country in his RV and his frequent trips to Florida. He was a member of the Men’s Auxiliary of Federalsburg VFW Post 5246 and Hurlock American Legion Post 243. He is survived by two daughters, Nalinda L. Callaway (Gar) and Wanda M. Hallowell (Jeff) of Federalsburg, a son, Carl L. Messick of Bridgeville, DE, six grandchildren, Heather Williamson, Jason Callaway, Karen Callaway, Aurora Messick, Daniel Hickman and Shane Hallowell, two great-grandchildren, Megan Williamson and Trevor Callaway, three sisters, Gene Mackert (Robert) of Federalsburg, Sandra Harper of Aberdeen, MD, Donna Lane (Milton) of Preston, a brother, Todd Messick (Eleanor) of Bedford, VA and several nieces and nephews. A beloved pet pal “Tiffy” also preceded him in death. Memorial services for him will be held on Friday, March 15, 2013 at 7:00 p.m. at Framptom Funeral Home, P.A. in Federalsburg with Rev. Robert Mackert officiating. Interment will be private at the convenience of the family in Junior Order Cemetery in Preston. Friends may call at the funeral home on Friday from 6:00 to 7:00.
