Eldred William "Bill" Meritt, Jr.'s Obituary
Eldred William “Bill” Meritt, Jr. of Hurlock, MD and formerly of Salisbury, passed away on Tuesday, February 21, 2012 Dorchester General Hospital in Cambridge. He was 68.
He was born Aug. 1, 1943 in Easton, MD, the son of Clara Kenney Meritt Marine of Hurlock, and the late Eldred William Meritt, Sr.
He was a well driller and had previously owned and operated Eastern Shore Trenching. He enjoyed mud hopping, fishing and tinkering in his shed.
Besides his mother, Clara Marine, Mr. Meritt is survived by four daughters Barbara Cheesman and her husband Kenny of Federalsburg, Brenda Lopez and her husband Arcadio of American Corner, Debbie Lewis and her husband Kevin of Laurel,
DE, and April Meritt of Salisbury; 9 grandchildren; 4 great-grandchildren; 2 sisters Linda Thomas and her husband Bill and Laura Baker, all of Preston; many nieces and nephews, a beloved dog “Goldberg”, and caregiver and sister-in-law Joyce Meritt. He was preceded in death by a brother Bobby Meritt and a sister Lisa Marine.
A private graveside service will be held at Junior Order Cemetery in Preston.
