Eleanor Josephine Corwin's Obituary
Eleanor J. Corwin (Jo), passed away on Tuesday, July 9, 2013, at her home in Federalsburg. She was born January 25, 1923, in Jackson, Michigan, and was the
third of nine children born to Leo and Carrie Culhane.
She was a graduate of Federalsburg High School, Maryland Institute of Art, and a U.S. Navy veteran of WWII. She was a teacher, librarian, and artist for many years in the Federalsburg area, a member of Eastern Star, VFW Ladies Auxiliary, WAVES National, Union United Methodist Church, and served on the Art Board of Chesapeake College.
She is survived by her husband of 67 years, Robert A. Corwin, a daughter Lorna Thomason (Terry) of Adams, Tennessee, son Kevin (Joe-Anne) of Penobscot, Maine, grandsons Joseph and Justin Rains, Max Corwin (Kate), and 2 great-granddaughters Avery and Lily Rains, a brother Frank Culhane (Ingrid) of Waldorf, MD, sister Bernese Todd (Bill) of Federalsburg, many nieces and nephews, and her very special caregiver, Cindy Redmond.
In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by sisters Nellie Averill, Evelyn Coyle, and brother’s Leo Jr., James, Robert and William Culhane.
Services will be held on Monday, July 15, 2013, at 11:00 a.m., at the Maryland Veterans Cemetery, Hurlock, MD with the Reverend Denzil Cheek officiating. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to be made to Caroline Hospice Foundation, P.O. Box 362, Denton, MD 21629.
