Eleanor T. Cheezum's Obituary
Eleanor Susan Taylor Cheezum of Preston, passed away on Tuesday, July 1, 2008 at William Hill Manor in Easton. She was 93.
She was born October 14, 1914 in Ridgely, Maryland the daughter of the late, Dr. Franklin W. Taylor, DVM and Helen Brasure Taylor. She was preceded in death by her husband of sixty-four years, David Mason Cheezum, Jr. on February 6, 2006.
Eleanor was a graduate of Ridgely High School. She continued her education at James Madison University in Harrisonburg, VA where she received her elementary education teaching degree. She became a teacher for the Caroline County School System teaching at Federalsburg and Preston Elementary School from 1936 until 1945, then again began teaching in Denton in 1962 after having her family, and then went back to teaching at Preston until her retirement on July 1, 1979.
She was a longtime member of Bethesda United Methodist Church in Preston where she had previously served as a member of the Board of Trustees, serving as treasurer, a Sunday school teacher, and also sang in the choir. She enjoyed antiques and collecting them, gardening, and cooking. She loved her family and cared for them her whole life long.
She is survived by four sons, Thomas E. Cheezum and his wife, Mary of Preston, David M. Cheezum, III, and his wife, Debra of Staunton, VA, A. Lee Cheezum and his wife, Deborah of Preston, Dan T. Cheezum and his wife, Myla of Arvada, CO, four grandchildren, Thomas E. Cheezum, II, Eric A. Cheezum, David Mason Cheezum, IV, Elizabeth Eleanor Cheezum, four great-grandchildren., Thomas Cheezum, Gillian Cheezum, Susannah Cheezum, and Violet Victoria Cheezum, a brother, William B. Taylor and his wife, Marie of Ithaca, Michigan, and two nieces, Susan Pihl and her husband, Wano of Ithaca, Michigan, and Linda Minshall and her husband, Greg of Lansing, Michigan. She was preceded in death by a brother, Frank Taylor.
