Elizabeth Cox English's Obituary
Elizabeth (Betsy) Marbury Cox English, age 84 of Salisbury, MD, passed away on Wednesday, April 19, 2023 at Coastal Hospice in Salisbury.
Betsy was born on June 16, 1938 in Washington, DC, the daughter of the James Cox and Margaret Cox Miller; she was the youngest of three children. In her teens, Betsy moved to Hurlock where she was to meet and marry her loving husband, William (Bill) English, Sr. Over the years, she and Bill lived in Hurlock, Federalsburg and Salisbury.
Her first job on the Eastern Shore was in her Uncle Benjamin McCallister's drug store/soda shop in Hurlock. She went on to work for Airpax in Cambridge, Super Thrift and Nanticoke Memorial Hospital in Seaford and was an avid antiques reseller on e-Bay and in various antique malls in the area for many years. She loved to travel, and especially enjoyed cruises to all parts of the world. Betsy was an expert seamstress, enjoyed crafting projects, word games, puzzles and to browse shops, auctions and yard sales for collectibles and fun items for her home. She loved animals, and was rarely without a family pet during all of her years.
To cherish her precious memory, she leaves her children Margaret (Peggy) Siclari of Kenmore, New York, Bill English, Jr. of Laurel, Delaware, and Mary English of Medford, Massachusetts. She is also survived by her grandchildren, Corey Siclari of Kenmore, New York, and Betsy Kapfer (husband Steve) of Kennett Square, Pennsylvania, along with great-grandchildren, Richard Siclari of Kenmore, New York, and Cora Kapfer of Kennett Square, Pennsylvania.
She was predeceased in death by her husband of 68 years, her parents, brothers James Cox and Gerard Cox, and her very special aunt who was like her second mother, Mary Collier.
There will be a private burial at Eastern Shore Veterans Cemetery in Hurlock, and a private memorial reception will take place at a later date.
Rest in peace, Betsy, you were loved and will never be forgotten.
