Elizabeth Towers' Obituary
Elizabeth Ellwanger Towers of Denton, MD passed away on Wed. July 28, 2010 at Caroline Nursing Home in Denton. She was 93 years old.
She was born Jan. 3, 1917 in Greensboro, MD, the daughter of the late
Freeborn B. and Isabelle B. Carrow Ellwanger. Her husband E. Grover Towers preceded her in death on Aug. 6, 1991.
She was a graduate of Greensboro High School Class of 1934. She was a
homemaker. Mrs. Towers had been a member of the Harmony United
Methodist Church for over 50 years, singing in the choir and sharing her voice with solos. She loved to cook, sew, and tend to her garden.
She is survived by a son Jerry A. Towers, and his wife Shirley of Denton, two grandchildren Scott A. Towers of Denton, and Kristi L. Schmidt and her husband Glenn of Ellicott City, three great-grandchildren Tyler L. Schmidt, Julia L. Schmidt, and Hunter M. Towers, and several nieces and nephews. Besides her parents and husband she was preceded in death by four siblings, Mildred Compton-Kenton, Mary Walls, Margaret Joinville and Alan Ellwanger.
Funeral services will be held on Monday, August 2, 2010 at 11:00 a.m. at the Framptom Funeral Home in Federalsburg with Rev. Rebecca Kelly officiating. Interment will follow in Hill Crest Cemetery in Federalsburg. Friends may call at the funeral home one hour prior to the service.
