Ella Neta R Steenken's Obituary
Ella Neta R. Steenken passed away peaceful at Talbot Hospice house in Easton on Thursday, May 28, 2026. She was 81 years old.
Born in Greensboro on July 9, 1944, Neta was the daughter of the late Howard E. and Ellen Swann Richard. Neta was educated in the local schools, and she graduated from North Caroline High School in 1962. Following high school Neta worked in several offices around the area including Preston Trucking, the Board of Education, and eventually she retired from Sea Watch of Easton. On November 20, 1990 Neta married W. Kenneth Steenken, Sr. and they made their home in Harmony.
Neta was a huge music fan and enjoyed Elvis above any other entertainer. She and Ken would put that love of music into motion as they glided across the dance floor at many dances. Besides music and dancing Neta loved a good bargain, clipping coupons, and browsing yard sales. Sadly, her last few years were plagued by health difficulties of which she is now free.
Left to mourn Neta is her husband Ken; her step-children William K. Steenken, Jr., Robert Steenken, Michael Steenken, Tammy Meredith and Darlene Wooters; her many step-grandchildren, her growing number of step-great grandchildren; her twin brother the Rev. H. Eugene Richard, Jr.; her other brother Harry E. Richard (Lori); and her nieces and nephews.
A funeral service will be held at Noon on Tuesday, June 2, 2026 at Framptom Funeral Home in Federalsburg. The family will greet family and friends for one hour from 11am until the start of the service. Burial will follow in Hillcrest Cemetery.
