Elnora Eaddy Wilcox's Obituary
Elnora Eaddy Wilcox of Preston, MD passed away on Sunday, May 5, 2013 at home surrounded by her loved ones.
Elnora was born in Back Swamp, NC on January 24, 1925 to the late John and Lucinda Cooper Eaddy. Her maternal grandparents were Carolina and Nora Brown Cooper. Her paternal grandparents were Henry “Gus” and Verline Daniels Eaddy.
She was raised and attended school in South Carolina. Elnora was a migrant worker. On May 31, 1946 Elnora married Lester Lee Wilcox who passed away on June 26, 1978.
Elnora devoted her life to Christ and raised her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren to know the world of God. After God, her family gave her the greatest joy. She was committed to being a servant to God and others. Elnora was a friend and mother to all. She was a faithful member of Farmers Memorial Church in Jonestown.
Elnora is survived by her children: Lessie Mae Wilcox, Cora Stanley, Joe (Malinda) Wilcox all of Hurlock, L. Lea Wilcox, James Wilcox both of Preston, Nora Wilcox of Federalsburg, Ty (Rosalinda) Wilcox of Germany, Arthur Wright of Delaware and Lucinda Wright of North Carolina, a brother, Zack Eaddy of Federalsburg, 21 grandchildren, 29 great-grandchildren, and 10 great-great- grandchildren, and a host of cousins, nieces, and nephews. In addition to her parents, grandparents, and her husband, Lester, she was preceded in death by a son, Oscar Lee Wilcox, siblings, Willie Joe Eaddy, Hessie Mae Scott, A’Clarence Eaddy, Annie Lou Smith, Bessie Eaddy, and her son-in-law, Alfred Stanley.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, May 10, 2013 at 10 a.m. at Union United Methodist Church in Federalsburg. A visitation will be held on Thursday evening at Framptom Funeral Home from 6-8 p.m. and from 9-10 a.m. at the church on Friday. Interment will follow at Maryland Eastern Shore Veterans Cemetery in Hurlock.
