Emma A. Hopkins' Obituary
Emma A. Hopkins of Hurlock, MD, passed away on Wed. Aug. 27, 2008 at the Memorial Hospital at Easton. She was 94 years old.
She was born Feb. 15, 1914 near East New Market, MD, the daughter of the late William Stanley and Minnie L. Molock. Her husband Linwood Harrison Hopkins preceded her in death on May 14, 1986.
She was a domestic worker. She was a former member of Zorah United Methodist Church at Petersburg for many years before becoming an active member of Hurlock United Methodist Church where she was a member of the Communion Steward Board.
She is survived by two sons and four daughters, Linwood T. Hopkins (Sarah) of Preston, Harold B. Hopkins of Hurlock, Evelyn E. Gibbs (Willie) of Hurlock, Bertha Sampson of Cambridge, Emmer D. Wingate (Milton) of Trappe, and B. Regina Hill (James) of Cambridge; 10 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; 1 great-great grandson; a sister, Mildred Murray of Hurlock; 2 brothers, Hilton Stanley of Hurlock and Vincent Stanley of Denton; 2 sisters-in-law Mamie Stanley of Federalsburg and Virginia Stanley of Hurlock; and many nieces and nephews. A brother-in-law, Floyd Murray preceded her.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday, Sept. 4, 2008 at 12:00 p.m. at the Hurlock United Methodist Church with Rev. Arthur George officiating. Interment will follow in Petersburg Cemetery near Hurlock. Friends may call at the church on Wed. from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. and on
Thursday from 11:00 to 12:00 p.m. Arrangements entrusted to Framptom Funeral Home.
