Ernest Eldridge Houchins, Jr.'s Obituary
Ernest E. Houchins, Jr. formerly of Wilmington, Delaware passed away under the care of hospice at his sister's home in Federalsburg, Maryland. He was 72 years old.
Born in Wilmington, Delaware on November 24, 1951 he was the son of the late Ernest Houchins, Sr and the late Georgia (VanDyke) Houchins. Leaving school early, Ernest enlisted in the U. S. Army during the Vietnam era. Following his honorable discharge from the service Ernest worked several jobs including being a deputy sheriff for New Castle County. Eventually Ernest went to work for Advo which is a distribution center for mass mailing. He ended his career there in management.
Ernest was a proud life member of the Loyal Order of Moose where he held leadership positions. Most importantly he will be remembered as a loving Father, Grandfather, Brother, and Uncle.
Ernest is survived by his children Ernest Eldridge, III and Constance Simpson; his sister Betty Turner; his grandchildren; and a number of nieces and nephews.
Besides his parents, Ernest was also preceded in death by his brother Leonard Edward Houchins and his sister Patricia Ann Perry.
A graveside service will be held at 11 am on Friday, November 8, 2024 at Gracelawn Memorial Park in New Castle, Delaware.
