Ernest Jackson "Jack" Salmons, Sr.'s Obituary
Ernest Jackson “Jack” Salmons, Sr. of Federalsburg, passed away on Monday, February 16, 2009 at the Memorial Hospital in Easton. He was 81.
He was born on March 31, 1927 in Harrington, DE, the son of the late David R. Salmons and Violet Derrickson Salmons. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Reba W. Salmons on October 20, 2006.
He had graduated from Harrington High School. He served his country serving in the United States Marine Corp and was honorably discharged in 1946. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, crabbing and agriculture. He worked for Delmarva Power for more than 35 years. He was a member of the Nanticoke Lodge #172 A.F. & A.M, the Federalsburg VFW Post #5246, and a member of the Federalsburg Vol. Fire Company.
He is survived by three sons, Jack Salmons, II and his wife Bonnie of Federalsburg, Dr. Charles Salmons and his wife Linda, of Newbern, NC, and Jimmy Salmons and his wife Bea of Newbern, NC, three step daughters, Connie Blanchfield and her husband William of Federalsburg, Patricia Glessner and her husband Ray, Jr. of Easton, Melinda Hagadorn and her companion Dennis Payne of Federalsburg, 8 grandchildren, 18 great grandchildren, many step grandchildren and great grandchildren, a brother, Robert Salmons and his wife Melrose of Harrington, Dem, and a sister Harriett Davis of Harrington, DE.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, February 18, 2009 at 2p.m. at the Framptom Funeral Home in Federalsburg with the Rev. Denzil Cheek officiating. Interment will follow at the Hill Crest in Federalsburg. The family will receive friends on Tuesday evening from 7-9 and one hour prior to the service on Wednesday.
Memorial offerings may be made in his memory to the Alzheimer’s Association, 1850 York Road, Suite D, Timonium, MD 21093.
