Obituary: Ethel Briggs Turner

Ethel Briggs Turner, daughter of the late Orrie N. Briggs and the late Alice Gertrude Shepard Briggs, was born on April 24, 1932 in Federalsburg, MD. She departed this life on Monday October 16, 2017 at Nanticoke Memorial Hospital, in Seaford, DE.
She was a seamstress at Federal Sportswear for 19 years and a retired member of the International Garment Workers Union. She was an active member of Zion United Methodist Church: a member of the Senior Choir and President of the United Methodist Women for 10 years. She also served as Historian and Communion Steward, on the Usher Board, and a Sunday school teacher. She served the Federalsburg Senior Center and was on the Board of Directors of the Federalsburg Historical Society.
She is preceded in death by her husband, James Goldsborough Turner Sr., her parents and her 15 brothers and sisters.
She is survived by her three children, Linda Evans (Federalsburg), June Thomas (Preston), and James Turner, Jr. (Willow Grove, PA), grandchildren, Gregory Stanley (Sherra), Smyrna, DE; Derrick Stanley, Dover, DE; Darren Thomas (Chris), Valrico, FL; Jermaine Turner (Hillary), Burbank, CA and Shawn Magee (Paulette); Seaford, DE. Great Grandchildren, Michael Stanley, Ciara Stanley, Dante Thomas, Audrey Turner, Eliza Turner; Hayleigh Evans, and Sophie Evans.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, October 21, 2017 at 11am at Union United Methodist Church, 301 North Main Street, Federalsburg, Maryland with Dr. Vanessa Stephens Lee officiating. Friends may visit the Church from 10am to 11am. Interment will follow at Federal Hill Cemetery in Federalsburg, MD.
