Eula Beatrice “Tookie” Alston of Seaford, DE passed away on Wed. Dec. 9, 2009 at Nanticoke Memorial Hospital in Seaford. She was 68..
She was born Aug. 12, 1941 in Bridgeville, DE the daughter of Olive P. “Miss Pud” Robinson Alston of Seaford and the late Willis “Pop” Alston.
She attended Frederick Douglas High School and graduated from James H. Grove High School. She worked as dispatcher at Nanticoke Memorial Hospital serving 47 years and she also was supervisor of hospitality at the hospital. She was employed by Dr. James and Theresa Rupp as custodian for 19 years. Her hobbies included reading, bowling, crocheting, and dining out, and she loved her dog, Kobe.
Besides her mother she is survived by a daughter, Carla P. Alston of Seaford, five siblings, Betty Alston Wright of Yorba Linda, CA, Patsy P. Alston Green of Milford, Charles Willis Alston and his wife Catherine of Greenbelt, MD, Larry Hopkins and his wife Jamasine of Bridgeville, James Edward Alston of Seaford, two granddaughters, Carlena Alston of Seaford, Raven Alston of Seaford, 4 great-grandchildren, Amiah Cooke, Samyah Perry, Destiney Alston, Jaden Alston, 4 god-children Vergonda Thomason, Tyrone Kilgo, Bam Cannon and Shawn Willis; a special niece Pamela Alston Goslee and special nephew Ebony U. Jones whom she helped raise, several other nieces, nephews and cousins, Dr. James Rupp’s office and her extended family at Nanticoke Hospital.
Funeral service will be held on Wednesday, December 16, 2009 at 1 pm at Church of God and Saints of Christ at 10016 Concord Rd. Seaford. Friends may call at the church from 11-1 on Wednesday.
