Evelyn Lyden Price's Obituary
Evelyn Lyden Price of Trappe died at Bayleigh Chase Nursing Home in Easton on Monday, October 10, 2016. She was 94.
She was born in Smithville, near Federalsburg on Novmber 30, 1921 the daughter of the late Charley E. Lyden and Elva Thawley Lyden. Her husband Dallas W. Price preceded her in death in 1984. A son, Mark W. Price also preceded her in death. She was a graduate of Federalsburg High School’s Class of 1938. She attended Nursing School at Easton Hospital graduating in 1942. She later attended Charity Hospital School of Anesthesia in New Orleans, LA. She served in the Army Nurse Corps during World War II working at several different hospitals as a Nurse Anesthetist. She was honorably discharged from the Army Nurse Corps as a 1st Lieutenant in 1947. She was a communicant at Trinity Cathedral Episcopal Church in Easton, was a past member of the MD State Nurses Association and was a past member of the American Association of Nurse Anesthetists. She returned home to marry and raise her family. As a civilian she worked as a nurse anesthetist and RN in several different facilities. Her whole adult life was devoted to the care of patients and the instruction of those who rendered that care. She last worked in long term care and retired after working through her 75th birthday. She is survived by two sons, Richard L. Price of Harlingen, TX and Stephen R. Price of Trappe, MD; four grandchildren, Jena Spurry of Easton, MD, Bryan Price of Sarasota, FL and Ricky Price and Kelly Price of Harlingen, TX; five great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. A brother, W. Edward Lyden and three sisters, Ruth L. Cook, Mary L. Woodward and Fay L. Hetsko preceded her in death. A special thanks to Lisa for the care she gave. A memorial service will be held at Trinity Cathedral in Easton, MD on Thursday, October 20, 2016 at 11:00 a.m.. A committal service with military honors will follow at the Eastern Shore Veterans Cemetery, Hurlock, MD.
