Forrest Russell, Jr.'s Obituary
Forrest Russell, Jr. of Elwood, near Hurlock, died at Easton Memorial Hospital on Sunday, February 6, 2011. He was 80 years old.
He was born at Elwood on July 10, 1930 the son of the late Forrest D. Russell, Sr. and Helen Jones Russell.
He was a graduate of Lockerman High School in Denton, MD and served his country in the U S Army from 1955 to 1961.
He worked for Preston Ford for many years before going to work for the State Highway Administration as a truck driver for 16 years. He was also a barber working at his own barber shop in Denton for over 20 years. He was a member of Mt. Calvary United Methodist Church in Preston, where he was a member of the United Methodist Men and was also a member of American Legion Post 193 in Denton. He also enjoyed gardening, being outdoors and being with his family.
He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Bertha Jeanette Beulah Russell whom he married on May 7, 1960 and two daughters, Linda Garrus of Dover, DE and Debra P. Briggs of Newark, DE and 3 grandchildren, Wayne Garrus, Jr. of Baltimore, MD, Jenee C. Briggs of Glenolden, PA and LaShea Briggs of Newark, DE, four sisters, Mildred Magee of Hurlock, Jeanette Gould of Oxen Hill, Lucretia Sampson of Hurlock and Helen Montgomery of Bowie, a brother, Irvin Russell of Preston and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Funeral services for him will be held on Saturday, Feb. 12, 2011 at 11:00 a.m. at Mt. Calvary United Methodist Church with Rev. Shirley Henry Brown officiating. Interment with military honors will be held at 10:00 a.m on Monday, Feb. 14, 2011 at Eastern Shore Veterans Cemetery. Friends may call at the church on Friday evening from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. and also on Saturday from 10:00 to 11:00. Interment will be at the Eastern Shore Veterans Cemetery on Monday at 10:00 a.m.
