Franklin E. DeFord, Sr.'s Obituary
Franklin E. DeFord, Sr. of Greenwood passed away on Sunday, September 22, 2024 at Genesis The Seaford Center in Seaford, Delaware. He was 76.
He was born on August 29, 1948 in Milford, Delaware the son of the late Earle E. DeFord and Pearl Smith DeFord.
Growing up in Greenwood, Frank graduated from Greenwood High School with the class of 1968. He was drafted into the United States Army serving during the Vietnam War. After his service, he returned home and worked for L.D. Caulk in Milford for many years until his retirement.
He was a lifelong member of the Greenwood Vol. Fire Company where he was also an active member of the fire police. An avid outdoorsman, Frank enjoyed hunting, fishing and trapping. He also enjoyed spending time with his family and grandchildren.
He is survived by a son, Franklin DeFord, Jr. and his wife Susan of Bridgeville, a daughter Kimberly Lawson and her husband Granville of Tennessee; seven grandchildren: Wesley, Carlyn, Christopher, Amanda, Jenna, Kelsey and Destiny; a host of great grandchildren, nieces and nephews; and two sisters Barbara Williams and her husband Jim of Greenwood, and Carol Butler and her husband Jack of Denton.
A graveside service will be held on Tuesday, October 1, 2024 at 2:00 at St. Johnstown Cemetery in Greenwood.
