Gary Paul Sundt's Obituary
Gary P. Sundt
St. Michaels, Gary Paul Sundt of St. Michaels, MD died at the University of Maryland Shore Medical Center, Easton, on Monday, November 4, 2013. Gary was born on June 28, 1942 in Oak Park, Illinois. After graduating from York High School, he moved to Miami, FL to be a mortician’s apprentice and then to Los Angeles, CA where he joined the Marine reserves. Then, he joined the Screen Actors Guild to pursue a career as a stuntman. At this point, he and his best friend purchased an airplane and learned how to pilot airplanes. He was hired as a pilot by Lake Central airlines in 1967, which later became known as US Airways. He was a pilot for 35 years. After meeting in 1970, while both working for Allegheny Airlines, Gary married his wife Candice in 1974. They resided in Miami, FL for five years where their three children, Christopher Brandon, Darren Andrew, and Stephanie Christine were born. In 1980, they moved to St. Michaels, MD, where Gary lived until the time of his passing. Throughout his life, Gary had a wide range of interests and hobbies. As a young boy, Gary enjoyed hunting and fishing in Wisconsin with his much loved relatives, and in high school, he participated in decathlons. As an adult, his hobbies included skydiving, boating, motorcycles and collecting vintage cars and antiques. Gary used his words sparingly, but those words and his antics left immeasurable memories for his family. Reliving these stories is why writing this obituary is taking so long. Gary is survived by his wife Candice; his daughter Stephanie Sundt and her boyfriend Chris Geraci of Philadelphia, PA; two sons: Darren Sundt and his wife Heidi of Hanover, PA and Brandon Sundt and his wife Amy of Easton, MD; four grandsons: T.J., Aidan, Logan, and Kieran Sundt. The toughest guy you would ever meet, it finally took Diabetes, Pneumonia, Inoperable Stage 4 Throat Cancer and Sepsis (and this is the condensed list) to get the better of him…or perhaps he finally decided to let the other guy win one. Services will be held at a later date. Arrangements are by the Ostrowski Funeral Home, St. Michaels, MD.
