Gary Edward Waltemeyer's Obituary
Gary E. Waltemeyer, 86 of Preston, Maryland, passed away peacefully at his home on June 8, 2023.
Predeceased by his parents Ellison and Pearl Waltemeyer, wife Daisy Pauline Waltemeyer, son Scott "Scotty" Waltemeyer and several brothers and sisters. Survived by his daughters Valerie (Leigh) Walker of Belair Maryland, Dawn (Thomas) Dice of Mount Vernon, Ohio and Krista (Kibwa) Waltemeyer of Belair, Maryland, Gina Lockwood of Deale Maryland and Denise Lockwood of Dover Delaware, 16 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren.
Gary served in the United States Army as an MP, stationed in East Berlin, Germany. After the military he started his career in sales with Brown and Williams Corporation, where he worked for over thirty-five years. Gary continued to work after retirement in various jobs including thirteen years as a Commissioner with the Town of Preston. Prior to his time as Commissioner, Gary served in many volunteer roles including, president of the Optimist Club of North Point, Governor and Secretary of Moose Lodge in Aberdeen, Second Lieutenant of the Jacksonville Maryland Volunteer Fire Department, member of the American Legion Post in Aberdeen, over 20 years coaching youth football and lacrosse
for the Greater Severna Park athletic Association and was an umpire for little league baseball.
Gary enjoyed working in the yard, wood-crafting, shooting pool and spending time with family and friends. He was a great father, grandfather, friend and neighbor.
Funeral services will be at the Framptom Funeral Home in Federalsburg on Thursday, June 15, 2023 at 12:00 Noon. Burial will follow at the Maryland Eastern Shore Veteran Cemetery in Hurlock. The family will receive friends on Wednesday evening from 6:00 to 8:00 and again on Thursday from 11:00 to 12:00.
