Gene Mackert's Obituary
Gene Messick Mackert of Federalsburg passed away on Friday, April 21, 2023 at Mallard Bay Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Cambridge. She was 94.
She was born on August 8, 1928 in Cambridge, Maryland, the daughter of the late Raymond Messick and Elsie Todd Messick.
She graduated from Hurlock High School with the class of 1945. She was married to Robert W. Mackert on February 22, 1964 and they made their home in Federalsburg.
In addition to raising her family Gene was always very active with her husband Bob in Christian service to area churches and the community.
She is survived by her husband of 59 years, Robert Mackert of Federalsburg; four children: Danny Morris and his wife Charlotte of Preston, Gordon Morris and his wife Lynn of Irvine, KY, Neal Morris and his wife Terry of Preston and Karen Breeding and her husband Richard of Ocean City; 8 grandchildren, many great grandchildren; one sister: Donna Lane and her husband Milton of Preston and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her siblings: Eldon Messick, Todd Messick, and Sandra Harper.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday, April 27, 2023 at 11:00 at the Framptom Funeral Home in Federalsburg. Interment will follow at Concord Cemetery in Federalsburg. The family will receive friends from 10:00 to 11:00.
