Geneva T. Schmick's Obituary
Geneva Todd Schmick of Federalsburg passed away on Monday, March 19, 2012
at Caroline Home for Hospice in Denton. She was 85.
Born May 31, 1926 in Easton, MD the daughter of the late J. Kemp Todd, Sr. and Mildred Meredith Todd. She was preceded in death by her husband Robert Lee Schmick on Aug. 17, 1991, an infant son, 2 grandsons Wade Watkins and Robert Alton Schmick, and a brother Billy Todd.
She was a graduate of Federalsburg High School. During WW II she protected her town by keeping watch in the watchtower at the old firehouse. Sewing was her life- long work. She had previously worked at E. I. DuPont, B.F. Goodrich, Long & Short, Acme, Fox’s, Sewing Outlet, Coffman & Fisher, Pooles, and H.R. Block. Her hobbies included working in her yard and flower beds, crocheting, enjoyed visiting Cape Hatteras and lighthouses, puzzles and pineapples. She was a member for over sixty years of Immanuel Lutheran Church.
She is survived by two daughters Linda S. Chambers, and Doris S. Maser and her husband Bill, all of Federalsburg, a son Richard L. Schmick, Sr. and his wife Cheryl of East New Market, MD, five grandchildren, Richard L. Schmick, Jr., Lynn Thomas, Brandy Hatten, Jennifer Phillips, and Benjamin “Gary” Beauchamp; 9 great-grandchildren, Brother J. Kemp Todd, Jr. of Federalsburg, a sister Norma Lee French of Marydel, 2 sisters-in-law Evelyn Eberhard and Emile Schmick.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday, March 22, 2012 at 11:00 a.m. at the Immanuel Lutheran Church in Preston with Rev. Thomas Becker officiating. Interment will follow in Junior Order Cemetery in Preston. Friends may call on
Wed. from 6 – 8 p.m. at the Framptom Funeral Home in Federalsburg and on Thursday from 10 – 11 a.m. at the church.
