George C. Allen's Obituary
George C. Allen of Greenwood passed away on Wednesday, December 18, 2024 at his home. He was 82.
He was born in Hollywood, Los Angeles, California on April 17, 1942; the son of the late George C Allen and Sara Adele (Farnum) Allen.
He was married to his highschool sweetheart Jeanie (McDonald) Allen, and they made their home on Long Island where he was part of the North Sea Fire Department and lived on the water. He was a licensed boat captain, and a carpenter known for his cabinet making skills. Later, he fabricated canvas sails and covers for boats as well as other various industries. He was known as 'Captain' to many. They moved to Greenwood in 2007, where he continued his canvas work.
He loved God and referred to him as 'The Father' in his daily life. He was a member of Grace Fellowship Church where he discussed the bible and made meaningful friendships over the years. He loved the water, especially sail boats, and spending time tinkering in his shop. He often sailed boats back and forth to St John's in the Caribbean.
He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Jeanie Allen of Greenwood, and two sons: W. "Troy" Allen (Charlene Babinsky) of East Hampton, NY, and George "Jay" Allen of Greenwood, DE, and two grandchildren: Makenzie and Tyler. He is preceded in death by his parents, and daughter in law Tracy (Wilson) Allen.
His wishes were for his remains to be spread off Montauk Point into the waters he loved. Time and details to follow in warmer weather. Jeanie welcomes stories and memories.
