George was a gentle man, respected by all who knew him at Eastern Shore Hospital Center. My office was across the hall from his for ten years so I saw first-hand his generous spirit with both staff and patients. My favorite memory however was off campus as he invited several of us to join him and Betty for a Wednesday night sailboat race in St. Michaels. They were expert sailors and lively companions. Thank you George and Betty for the memories made that evening. Condolences to his family. He lived a full and faithful life. Chris, I’m glad I got to know your parents.
George and my Dad met at Western MD College, now McDaniel University. George was 1 year ahead of my father. They became fast friends, and when George found out about the brand new program of Masters of Social Work being offered at the University of PA he came to my Dad and said, “ Hey, come do this with me.” My Dad did. Both men went on to marry and have children, during the same time span. I was born the same year as Chris. The two couples have been fast friends their entire adult lives, being “second parents” to my brother and I, Chris and Dave. It is a huge loss for us to lose George. Chris, I am so very sorry. My Dad, his cousin, Robert Harrison loved him so.
