George A. Baer, Jr.'s Obituary
George A. Baer, Jr. passed away on Wednesday, May 18, 2011 at Delmar Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Delmar, DE. He was 81.
He was born in Easton, Maryland on March 22, 1930, the son of the late George A. Baer, Sr., and the former Ruth Poole.
He graduated from Easton High School class of 1947. He began his career at the Star Democrat and then attended linotype school in New York City. After returning home, he worked as a linotype operator at the Star Democrat and later for the Seaford Leader. During his employment, he entered the Maryland National Guard from 1950 to 1956. He was married to Shirley Jane Henry Baer for more than 50 years. She preceded him in death on February 20, 2002.
He enjoyed playing softball, shuffleboard, cards, and dominos. He was known for his sense of humor and ability to make people laugh.
He is survived by a daughter, Debbie Street and her husband John of Bridgeville, DE and a son, Robert Baer and his wife Donna of Salisbury, MD, three grandchildren, Tyler and Emily Baer and Megan Street, and a sister, Marian Trippe and her husband, Richard of Easton.
Funeral services will be held on Monday, May 23, 2011 at 1:00p.m. at the Framptom Funeral Home in Federalsburg with the Reverend Denzil T. Cheek officiating. Interment will follow in Bridgeville Cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.
