George A. Ballas' Obituary
George A. Ballas of Federalsburg, MD passed away on Sunday, Nov. 25, 2007 at the Memorial Hospital at Easton, MD. He was 75.
He was born March 8, 1932 in Federalsburg, the son of the late Anthony George Ballas and Laura Smith Ballas.
He was a graduate of Federalsburg High School class of 1949. He and his wife owned and operated the former Famous Cleaners for 36 years.
He is survived by his wife of 42 years, Betty Joiner Ballas, whom he married on Oct. 1, 1965, 4 children, Steven A. Ballas, and his wife, Wanda, of Federalsburg, Pamela Todd Wise, and her husband, Randy, of King William, VA, Lisa Todd Szewczyk and her husband, Ed, of Delmar, DE, Scott R. Todd, and his wife, Cathie, of Alloway, NJ., 4 grandchildren, Rachel Cartwright (Greg), Jason Wise, Jesse Wise, Kendall Szewczyk; a great-granddaughter, Abigale Porter, 3 nieces, Barbara Vansciver, Janice Willoughby, and Thomasine Watson, 2 sisters preceded him in death, Elaine Hoxter and Agnes Johnson.
Funeral service will be held on Thursday, Nov. 29, 2007 at 2:00 p.m. the Framptom Funeral Home in Federalsburg, with Rev. Denise Collins officiating. Interment will be on Friday, Nov. 30, at 10:00 a.m. in Denton Cemetery in Denton, MD Friends may call at the funeral home on Wed. from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Serving as pallbearers will be Toby Williamson, Scott Todd, Alan Nichols, Kevin Bradley, Russell Gesuero, Jon Vansciver, Charles Willoughby, and Jason Wise, and honorary bearers will be Ben Ostrowski, Ted Trice, Carl Watson, Bobby Whiteley, Robert “Ducky” Detweiler.
