Gerald George Sherman's Obituary
Gerald (Jerry) George Sherman passed away on February 9th, 2024, his soul set free to fly on a beautiful unseasonably warm sunny Winter day through the open patio doors overlooking the Gazebo Garden at Delaware Hospice in Milford, DE. Jerry attended Milford Christ Episcopal Church and graduated Milford High School, Class of 1974. Academia pursuits included a Double Major in American History and Political Science at Newark, University of Delaware. Jerry's eclectic music collection featured 70's Rock as well as selections of Bluegrass to Opera. His passion for Reading overshadowed all the vinyl interest and he focused intensely upon American Civil War History. Jerry was preceded in Death by both Parents, George Preston Sherman of Milton, DE, and Ethel M. Stayton Sherman of Milford, DE. Jerry is survived by three sisters, Ethel Mae Stayton-Newman and husband Thomas, Sister Gladys A. Stayton-Kindig of Hastings, Minnesota and Cynthia F. Sherman of Milford, DE. Uncle Jerry is survived by six nephews and two nieces, several great nephews, great nieces and cousins, he was preceded in death by one great nephew, one great niece and all of his Uncles and Aunts on both the Sherman and Stayton Family Tree. Family plans for a Private Celebration of life, in lieu of flowers, Donations in Jerry's memory can be made to Delaware Historical Society in Honor of Jerry's lifelong pursuit of American History.
