Geraldine Jackson Dennis' Obituary
Geraldine Juanita Jackson Dennis passed away on Saturday, March 15, 2014 at her home in Reid’s Grove at the age of 83. The daughter of the late Noah James and Emma Jane Fararre Jackson she was born in Brookview, North Dorchester County, on August 16, 1930.
She attended elementary schools in Jones Thicket near Reid’s Grove and Rhodesdale, and Vienna School. She graduated from St. Clair High School with the class of 1947. She also attended Berean Secretarial School in Philadelphia, PA for about a year. She had fond memories of her time spent in that city.
She was employed at Acme, Harper and Bateman, and retired from Continental Can Company, all in Hurlock. After she retired, she was a baby sitter for the last thirty years for many of the younger members of the family. She sent two brothers off to school from her home.
She attended Zoar United Methodist Church in Reid’s Grove in Reid’s Grove and received a certificate for teaching Sunday School.
On September 17, 1950 she was united in Holy Matrimony to the late Elmer Walter Dennis by the late Rev. W.A. Nichols of East New Market.
She is survived by six sons, Rev. Keiford O. Jackson of Cambridge, Alfonso Dennis of Reid’s Grove, Larry D. Dennis and Michael W. Dennis of Cambridge, Bruce W. Dennis of Silver Spring. And David B. Dennis of Delmar, MD, two grandchildren, two great-grandchildren, two caring daughters-in-law, two brothers, Greason Winfield Jackson of Reid’s Grove, and Keifford D. Jackson of Vienna, two sisters, Vatice Lewis of Reid’s Grove, and Bessie Jones of Salisbury, nieces, nephews, cousins, many friends, and several very close friends.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, March 21, 2014 at 11:00 a.m. at the Framptom Funeral Home in Federalsburg. Her son, The Reverend Keiford O. Jackson will officiate. Friends may visit from 10-11 at the Funeral Home. Interment will follow at the Eastern Shore Veterans Cemetery in Hurlock.
