Gertrude Lord's Obituary
Gertrude Waldis Lord, of Federalsburg, MD passed away peacefully surrounded by her family at her home on Tuesday, Oct. 11, 2011. She was 93.
Gertrude was born April 3, 1918 on the Waldis Family Farm near Federalsburg, the daughter of the late Joseph and Minnie Scott Waldis.
She was a seamstress working for the former Federal Sportswear,and retiring from Yale Sportwear. She was a member of the International Garment Workers Union. Mrs. Lord enjoyed gardening and flowers, and taking photos.
She is survived by 2 grandchildren, Philip Lee Lord, Jr. and his companion Fran Long, and Darlene Mischelle McDonald and her husband Kevin, all of Bridgeville, DE a great-grandson Jeremiah Lord of Mississippi, 4 sisters Elizabeth Orn of Hayward, CA, Ruth Dodd of Seaford, Louise Massey and Margaret Wheatley, both of Federalsburg, a brother William Waldis of Cambridge, and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband Francis W. Lord, sons Philip Lee Lord, Sr. and Larry F. Lord, grandson Duke T. Lord, 3 sisters Reba Sammons, Virginia Nichols, Kathleen DeGraw, and 2 brothers Frank Waldis and Russell Waldis.
Funeral services will be held on Monday, Oct. 17, 2011 at 2:00 p.m. at the Framptom Funeral Home, P.A. with Rev. Denzil Cheek officiating. Interment will follow at Concord Cemetery near Federalsburg. Friends may call at the funeral home from 12:00 to 2:00 p.m. Contributions may be made to the Framptom Funeral Home, 216 N. Main St., Federalsburg, MD 21632 to defray burial costs.
