Mrs. Gladys P Murphy's Obituary
Gladys P. Murphy passed away on Friday, September 21, 2018 at Caroline Nursing Home in Denton, Maryland. She was 90.
She was born on July 31, 1928 in Bethlehem, Caroline County, Maryland, the daughter of the late William Wells and Frances Lord Wells.
She retired from the former Con Agra Hatchery in Hurlock, had worked at the former Tastee Freeze in Denton, and had worked for over 25 years for the Framptom Funeral Home and the Hawkins and Eskow families. She was a faithful member of the Park Lane Church of God. Gladys loved her family and enjoyed walking and exercising. Her favorite time of year was Christmas.
She is survived by a son Herbert Murphy and his wife Anne of Federalsburg, a daughter-in-law Darleen Murphy of Denton, 6 grandchildren, 8 great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. Besides her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Melvin Herbert Murphy, two sons, Wayne Murphy and Melvin “Bunky” Murphy, daughter-in-law Eleanor Murphy, a brother Melvin Wells, two sisters Dorothy Roop and Mary Dukes, and one grandson, Daniel Murphy.
Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, September 25, 2018 at 1:00 at the Framptom Funeral Home in Federalsburg with Bishop Ray Parsons officiating. Interment will follow at Concord Cemetery near Federalsburg. The family will receive friends from 12:00 to 1:00.
