Grace Eleanor Matthews' Obituary
Grace Eleanor Matthews 95, of Federalsburg, died at Genesis HealthCare - The Pines in Easton on Friday, July 22, 2011.
She was born at Nichols near Federalsburg on Sept. 20, 1915, the daughter of the late Wilmer Wright and Mabel Gorman Wright. Her husband, Russell Woodrow Matthews preceded her in death on November 4, 1996. She was a graduate of Federalsburg High School Class of 1933. She was a poultry grower for several different Poultry companies for over 50 years. When she was able she attended First Church of God in Federalsburg. As her family started to leave home she also helped raise 13 foster children. She is survived by two daughters, Eileen Turbitt and her husband Bryan and Peggy Hill of Federalsburg and 5 sons, Edward Matthews of Federalsburg, Richard Matthews and his wife Sally of Camden-Wyoming, DE, Charles Matthews and his wife Jane and Teddy Matthews and his wife Diana both of Federalsburg and Terry Matthews and his wife Evelyn of St. Michaels, 15 grandchildren, Steve, Dee, David, Michele, Mark, Jeff, Chip, Gregory, Larry, Sherri, Debbi, Bobbi, Chris, Ashley and Stephanie, 23 great-grandchildren and 3 great-great-grandchildren. A daughter, Linda Sue Schech, a son, Raymond William Matthews, a grandson, Michael Matthews and a brother, William Wright preceded her in death. Funeral services for her will be held on Wednesday, July 27, 2011, at 4:00 p.m. at First Church of God in Federalsburg with Rev. Peter Smith officiating. Interment will follow in Hillcrest Cemetery in Federalsburg. Friends may call at Framptom Funeral Home, P.A. in Federalsburg on Tuesday evening from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. and at the church on Wednesday from 3:00 to 4:00 p.m.. To help defray funeral expenses the family has suggested that contributions be made to Framptom Funeral Home, P. A. 216 N. Main Street, Federalsburg, MD 21632.
