Gregory Perry Kemp, Sr.'s Obituary
Gregory Perry Kemp Sr., beloved father, brother, uncle, grandfather, and friend passed away on Friday May 23, 2025. He was 54 years old.
Greg was born on March 18, 1971, in Easton, Maryland, the son of David Kemp Sr. and Bonnie Kemp. Greg was a lifelong St. Michaels resident who attended St. Michaels Elementary and Middle/High Schools where he played both baseball and soccer. He started his career as a commercial waterman as a teenager, crabbing, oystering, and clamming on the Chesapeake Bay. He was also known to be a skilled carpenter. Greg sat on many advisory boards and oyster shell committees related to the Maryland Oyster Industry.
His hobbies included pranking anyone he knew, hunting, fishing, riding his motorcycle, collecting oyster cans, and socializing around the boat wharfs of the Bay Hundred.
He is survived by his mother Bonnie Kemp; daughter, Alexis Kemp; son, Gregory Kemp Jr. (Felicia); granddaughters, Grace and Addilyn; brother, Michael Kemp Sr. (Tracy); significant other, Morgan Danenmann; and many nieces and nephews. Greg was predeceased by his Father David Kemp Sr., Brother David Kemp Jr, maternal grandparents Thomas and Margaret Dobson, and paternal grandparents John (Jack) and Evelyn Kemp.
Services will be at Christ Episcopal Church in St. Michaels on Saturday May 31st, 2025, at 2 pm. Family and Friends may visit 1 hour prior to the service at the Parish Hall located next to Christ Church.
