Gregory P. Wilson's Obituary
Gregory P. Wilson Tilghman, Gregory Paul Wilson, 62, passed away on the first day of oyster season, Saturday, October 1, 2016 at his home in Tilghman Island, Maryland. He was born December 2, 1953, the son of Clifford Lee “Big Daddy†Wilson and the late Donna Wilson of Tilghman. Greg was a loving son, brother, uncle, father, grandfather and friend to many. Greg was a life-long waterman and avid diver. He received his master diving certification in San Diego, California, before returning home where he was one of the first oyster divers of the Chesapeake. Greg’s favorite time of year was oyster season and he looked forward to spending his days either on or under water. In later years, he passed his legacy on to his two sons, Derek and Daniel, who he taught to dive and served as “top man†as they both started their careers diving for oysters as well. At other times, Greg worked for Langdon Farms breeding cattle and also riding his Appaloosa horse and jousting. He was also employed by Langdonfellow Marine. Greg had deep ties to his community in Tilghman and beyond and will be greatly missed by all those who knew and loved him and many life-long friends. He leaves behind three beautiful children, Kelly Runnels of Easton, Derek Wilson and his wife Andrea of Easton, and Daniel Wilson of Tilghman. He was also a proud grandfather of Perry Runnels and Everett Wilson who brought him so much joy. He is survived by three siblings, Gail Aversano and her husband Tony of Florida, Robbie Wilson and his wife Brenda of Tilghman, and Lisa Phillips and her husband Charlie of Tilghman and several nieces and nephews. Greg will be dearly missed by his partner, Donna Biddle, whom he worked alongside of everyday and who lovingly stayed by his side for the past eight years. A memorial service has been planned for Sunday, October 16, 2016 at 2:00pm at the Tilghman United Methodist Church in Tilghman Island, Maryland. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Tilghman Island Volunteer Fire Department to support the community that Greg so loved. Arrangements are by the Ostrowski Funeral Home P.A. 312 S. Talbot St. St. Michaels, MD. 21663
