Gwendolyn M Palmer's Obituary
Gwendolyn Maria Palmer, daughter of the late Frank and Earthalene Palmer, was born November 27, 1952, in Hinesville, Georgia. Gwendolyn peacefully went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday June 7, 2023, at the age of 70.
She received her early education in a catholic school in Baltimore, Maryland and graduated from Caroline County School District, Denton, Maryland, and she played on the basketball team.
Gwendolyn was blessed with four children, Shawn, Ajene, Oshenka and Tartenisha. Gwendolyn was employed at the South Florida State Hospital in Pembroke Pines, Florida. In later years, she was employed by Caroline County School District, Denton, Maryland and was the JV Basketball coach until her retirement. After retirement, she owned and operated, an in-home daycare center "Mother GP's Daycare" where she nurtured and cared for many children.
Gwendolyn joined Immanuel House of Praise, Seaford, Delaware in 2007. She was a dedicated and faithful member, until her health declined. However, she continued to join Immanuel's online worship services. She was named an Honorary Mother of Immanuel House of Praise and was affectionately known to all as "Mother Palmer."
Gwendolyn had an infectious smile that would warm any heart. She was known for her beautiful head wrap styles. She loved to shop and would have clothes catalogs galore. Gwen loved to cook and was famous for her oh so delicious "Super SPICY Gumbo" that would have you sweating for days. She also enjoyed watching action movies, listening to jazz and gospel music but most of all she loved the Lord and getting her praise on. She would break out in a dance and shout anywhere she was, even in the grocery store. She had two dogs she loved "Mr. Lil Bit and Mr. Snuggles." Gwen also loved to send text messages to her loved ones and friends. You could rest assure that during the holidays, you would receive a holiday text message well in advance. She would end the text message with her favorite closing "B Careful Out About N Side 2."
Gwendolyn was preceded in death by her parents, Frank and Earthalene Palmer. She leaves to cherish her memory; four children: Shawn Palmer, Ajene Palmer (Teresa), a very devoted daughter and caregiver Oshenka Gordon, and Tartenisha Peterson; nine beloved grandchildren: Delores Palmer, Kennesha Williams, Alazia Crum, Ajay Palmer, a devoted grandson Shu'ma Gordon-Miller, Elijah Palmer, Yazmeen Ramos, Shawn Palmer Jr., and Serenity Palmer and six great grandchildren, four aunts: Nettie Hewlett, Lavenia Green, Catherine Roberts, and Lillian Gosnell. Devoted family Victor and Carolyn Gordon, Lillie Freeman and one devoted sister, Reverend Andrea Black, a special daughter Debra Washington and a host of other special children, cousins, and friends
