Harley G. Watkins Jr.'s Obituary
Harley G. Watkins, Jr. of Laurel, DE was born on January 26, 1926. He departed this life on Thursday, January 11, 2018. He was 91.
He was the son of the late Harley G. Watkins, Sr. and the late Elizabeth Townsend Watkins. He retired from E.I. Dupont after 38 years as a control operator.
He married the love of his life, Madeline Watkins, on January 11, 1952. An avid outdoorsman, he loved hunting, especially quail, and fishing. He enjoyed growing a garden, playing the banjo, guitar, and harmonica, and listening to bluegrass music.
He leaves to cherish his memory his children, Diana Taylor, Deborah Jason, and Barry Wilson, his grandchildren, Scott Williams-Watkins, Ryan Jason, Hannah Jason, Jenna Jason, Jerry Wilson, April Wilson, and Gina Wilson, six great-grandchildren, two siblings, Rinky Kinnamon and Stengle Watkins, and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his wife, Madeline Watkins, and 18 brothers and sisters.
A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, January 15, 2018 at the Framptom Funeral Home at 2pm with Reverend Denzil Cheek officiating. Friends may call on the family from 1-2pm before the start of the service. Interment will be held immediately following the service at McKendree Cemetery in Rhodesdale, MD.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made St. Jude’s Childrens Hospital.
