Harold E. Collins' Obituary
Harold Edward Collins, known as “Captain Collins” passed away surrounded by his loving family on Friday, Oct. 25, 2013 at his home in Federalsburg. He was 86.
He was born Feb. 25, 1927 in Preston, the son of the late Gilbert Henderson Collins and Louise Mae Hurlock Collins.
He was a veteran of WW II serving his country in the US Coast Guard from 1941 to 1945 in the European Theatre, China, Burma and India. He was a member of the VFW Post 194 in Salisbury. Mr. Collins retired from Tri-Gas & Oil and M & L GMC after 42 years of service. He was a Charter Boat Captain owning his own boats.
He is survived by his wife Mary Virginia Griffith Collins, a son Harold R. “Sonny” Collins (Alice) of Preston, 5 daughters Jo Ann Glanden (Lee) of Denton, Betty Louise Bennett (Richard) of Hurlock, Bonnie Sue Sinclair (Louis) of Denton, Yvonne Sylvia Nagel (Henry) of Federalsburg, and Debra Mae Wright (Robert) of Cambridge, 15 grandchildren, many great-grandchildren, several great-great-grandchildren, 2 brothers Gilbert H. Collins, Jr. and Donald Lee Collins both of Milford, DE.. Besides his parents he was preceded in death by a daughter Maryll Lee Nagell, two sisters Betty Louise Collins and Irene Hasson, a brother William F. Collins, a grandson Eric Glanden, two step-brothers Norman Kelly and Edward Kelly, and a step-sister Evelyn Fleetwood.
Funeral services with military honors will be held on Tuesday, Oct. 29, 2013 at 2:00 p.m. at the Framptom Funeral Home with Rev. Denzil Cheek officiating. Friends may call from 12:00 to 2:00 p.m. Private inurnment will be at the Eastern Shore Veterans Cemetery in Beulah.
