Helen Bogardus' Obituary
Helen Louise (Hendrix) Bogardus passed away peacefully and gained her wings on Thursday, April 17, 2025 at the Country Rest Home in Greenwood, Delaware. She was 80 years old. Prior to her taking up residence at the Country Rest Home she most recently lived in Federalsburg, Maryland with her beloved companion, Frank Adams.
She was born on February 7, 1945 in Waynesville, North Carolina she was the daughter of the late Curtis Hendrix and the late Eunice Allen Hendrix.
Helen had many careers over her lifetime, but she will be remembered fondly as a waitress at a number of dining establishments. Helen was known for her warm smile, kind heart, and unwavering dedication to her family. Helen led a very happy, active life filled with family, friends, and some activities, such as cooking for her family, spending time gardening, she loved watching the Hallmark movies, shopping at Boscov's, reading her Bible and Church. She loved dragonflies and collected light houses over the years.
Left to cherish Helen's memory are her two sons Jim Williams Jr. and his wife Raye, and Chris Williams and his wife Cindy. A beloved sister Martha Bell and a brother Scotty Hendrix. Her legacy will continue through her 5 Grandchildren Bradley Williams, Chelsea Wample, April Gerstner, Stephanie Woolford and Shelby Williams along with her 10 Great Grandchildren Ava, Luna, Riley, Raegan, Carter, Caroline, Brantley, Silas, Coraline and Daisy.
Besides her parents she was preceded in death by her husband William (Bill) Bogardus and brother Olan Hendrix.
Family, friends, and others whose lives Helen touched are invited to the celebration of life that will be held on Saturday, May 3, 2025 at Harvest Christian Church located at 8697 Ockels Road, Seaford starting at 11 o'clock. Inurnment will take place next to Bill at a later date in Arlington National Cemetery. Helen's family asks if you would like to stay afterwards and share in a meal with the family to please bring a covered dish to share.
In lieu of flowers Helen's family requests that contributions be made in her memory to Country Rest Home, 12046 Sunset Ln., Greenwood, DE 19950.
