Helen Shufelt Fletcher's Obituary
Helen Shufelt Fletcher of Preston passed away on Monday, September 12, 2016 at Caroline Hospice Home in Denton. She was 89.
She was born on August 12, 1927 in Hurlock, the daughter of the late Carl Elmer Shufelt and Irene Pitts Shufelt. She was preceded in death by her husband of fifty years, Theodore E. Fletcher, Jr. on February 10, 2000.
She graduated from Hurlock High School and continued her education at Strayer Business College. She was a wonderful homemaker. Helen was a member of Bethesda United Methodist Church in Preston for sixty-seven years and was part of the Women of Bethesda. She also was a member of Caroline County Garden Club for over fifty years and was a member of the Preston Community Club and a charter member of the Preston Historical Society.
Helen is survived by her daughters, Linda of Preston, and Carla (Tyler) Johnson of Chestertown, four grandchildren, Danielle (Josh) Romme of Crownsville, Brittany Prager of Phoenix, Fletcher Johnson and Webb Johnson both of Chestertown. She was also preceded in death by her son, Mark Fletcher in 1971.
Funeral services will be held on Sunday, September 18, 2016 at 3 p.m. at Bethesda United Methodist Church in Preston with Rev. Mark Farnell and Rev. Linda Peevey officiating. Interment will follow at Junior Order Cemetery in Preston. Friends may visit with the family on Saturday evening from 5-7 p.m. at the Fletcher Farm at 3996 Harmony Road in Preston and one hour prior to the service on Sunday at the church.
