Helen C. (Warfield) Ross' Obituary
Helen C. Ross Easton, Helen C. Ross of Easton, died at the University of Maryland Shock Trauma Center, Baltimore, on Sunday. March 23, 2014. She was 89. Born in Baltimore, on October 29, 1924 she was the daughter of the late Hiram and Emma Haney Warfield. Helen grew up in Baltimore, where she attended Baltimore City schools, after graduating from Southern High School (where she was named most popular girl in the class) she worked in administration until she met Robert Ross, a Baltimore business owner. After their marriage (in Gaspey, Canada) she began to raise their family with great care and devotion. Following Mr. Ross’s retirement in the late 1970’s they moved to the Eastern Shore of Maryland, first to St. Michaels and then to Easton. Mrs. Ross was an avid reader, gardener, ceramicist, & birdwatcher. She loved learning. Recently she taught herself the art of calligraphy. She spent many pleasant hours with friends at her “breakfast clubâ€. Mostly she enjoyed being with her devoted husband, her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. She was a member of Sts. Peter & Paul Parish in Easton. Mrs. Ross also volunteered at The Shore Regional Cancer Center in Easton. Mrs. Ross is survived by her beloved husband; Robert S. Ross, her devoted children; Diane L. Burnham and her husband Russell Roda of Pasadena, Kathleen V. Ross and her husband John Newton of Baltimore, Robert S. Ross, Jr. his wife Susan of Catonsville, and Andrea L. Ross of Easton. one brother; Joseph W. Warfield, Sr. of Baltimore. In addition she is survived by 12 grandchildren; Kristine, Jennifer, Erika, Krystal, Robbie, Korrie, Ashleigh, Taylor, Amanda, Kerby, Dustin and Hunter, and 18 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a son David Ross who died on November 14, 2013. Friends may visit the family at the Ostrowski Funeral Home, 312 S. Talbot Street, St. Michaels on Thursday, March 27th from 2:00 to 4:00PM. A funeral liturgy will be celebrated at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church, Cordova, MD. on Friday March 28, 2014 at 10:00AM. Burial will follow in the Church Cemetery. In lieu of flowers the family requests donations to the Talbot Hospice Foundation 586 Cynwood Drive Easton, MD. 21601.
