Helen Estelle Womack's Obituary
Helen Etter Womack passed away peacefully at home on December 1, 2023. She was 96 years of age.
She was born on July 2, 1927 to John Luther Etter and Ruth Ashcomb Etter in Baltimore, Maryland. A graduate of Goucher College, she married Winslow Womack on June 8, 1957 at Stony Run Friends Meeting in Baltimore.
She was blessed to live a good portion of her life on Pea Neck Rd in St Michaels where her father ran a boys and girls summer camp in the 1930's through the 1940's. A mother of five children, she also devoted her time to Habitat for Humanity, a founding member of the Talbot County affiliate, and active on the Homeowners Selection committee. She was a board member for Crossroads Community Inc for many years, past president of the Talbot County Mental Health Association and served on the Governor's Task Force for infants, children and youth. She volunteered at the Chesapeake Bay Maritime Museum for over 37 years. A huge supporter of nurses, the Helen Etter Womack Nursing Award at Chesapeake College in Wye Mills was founded, to which donations can be sent in lieu of flowers.
She is survived by her husband of 66 years, her five children, six grandchildren and two great-grandchildren, preceded by one granddaughter. A service will be announced at a later date.
