Helen Anastasia Hrynko Altvater's Obituary
Helen Anastasia Hrynko Altvater of Quantico, MD passed away on Sunday, May 2, 2010 at her home under the care of her loving family and Hospice. She was was 83 years old.
She was born Dec. 20, 1926 in Federalsburg, MD the daughter of the late
Stephen and Julia Nester Hrynko.
Besides working at E. I. DuPont in Seaford for thirty-nine years,
Helen also partnered with her husband as they owned and operated the former Altvater’s U Pick on the Sharptown-Eldorado Road. They traveled extensively throughout the United States in their RV. She was a loving wife, devoted mother and grandmother. A more loyal friend could not be found.
Helen is survived by her husband of over fifty years Charles William “Bill” Altvater, two children, Darlene Johnson (retired Delaware teacher) and her husband Hyland Johnson, Jr., of Lewes, DE, and Don Sharpe (Senior Pastor of Grace Community Church) and his wife Margaret of Bel Air, MD, three grandchildren, Jason Eller of Richmond, VA, Deborah Sharpe and Lisa Sharpe, both of Bel Air, MD, two sisters Julie Lapinski and Ann Gallo, both of Pennsylvania, and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by five siblings, Peter Hrynko, Michael Hrynko, John Hrynko, Joseph Hrynko, and Mary Passwaters.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wed., May 5, 2010 at 11:00 a.m. at Our Lady of Good Counsel in Secretary, MD. The Rev. Stephen Lonek will be the celebrant. Interment will follow in the church cemetery, in which her final request of “Peace in the Valley” will be sung. She will be greatly missed by her family and friends.
