Helen Anna Edwards' Obituary
Helen Anna Shia Edwards of Preston, MD passed peacefully with loved ones by her side on Jan. 3, 2010 at Caroline Home for Hospice in Denton, MD. She was 94.
She was born Sept. 23, 1915 in Wolcott, CT the daughter of the late Joseph and Pauline Majocha Shia. Helen was preceded in death by her husband Harold Harrison Edwards whom she married June 17, 1934, and who passed away on March 14, 1977.
Mrs. Edwards had worked many years at Murdoch Gardens in Easton, MD supervising the making of dish gardens. She loved flowers and knew them all. She always had violets blooming and remembered everyone’s birthday with a card. She was a member of the Seventh-Day Adventist in Federalsburg, and when the weather was good, drove to services up until last year.
She is survived by seven children, Charlotte and her husband Donald Slie of Westminister, VT, Joan Bridschge of Wolcott, CT, Carol and her husband Clinton Taylor of Ridgely, MD, Brian Edwards and his wife Margaret Ann of York, SC, Bill Edwards and his wife Shirley of Hurlock, MD, Gerald Edwards and his wife Carolyn of Qatar, and Laurence Edwards of Preston; 15 grandchildren, 24 great-grandchildren, 5 great-great-grandchildren, many nieces and nephews and one special nephew Jim Kolesnik, who always sent wonderful care packages.
In addition to her parents and husband Helen was preceded in death by her eldest son Richard “Dicky” Edwards; one son-in-law Raymond Bridschge and two grandchildren, Kory Bridschge and Yvette Bridschge, five sisters Irene, Susan, Mary, Victoria, Kathryn and one brother John.
Friends may call at the Framptom Funeral Home on Thursday, Jan. 7 from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Funeral services and interment will be private.
