Helene S. Bland's Obituary
Helene S. “Miss Helen” Bland of Harmony, passed away on Sat., April 16, 2011 at
Caroline Home for Hospice in Denton, MD. She was 85.
Born June 10, 1925 in Baltimore, MD, daughter of the late Grace E. Dyott and Julius H. George, Sr. She was raised by the late Alonzo and Carrie Saunders of Easton.
A longtime resident of Easton, Helene graduated from Easton High Scholl in 1945. She began her career in the hospitality industry as a waitress in the Easton area, and retired from the Tidewater Inn after 20 years of service. Helene loved the beach, music, reading, dancing and gardening.
She is survived by her husband of 47 years, James H. Bland, three daughters, Sandra Simmons of Ashland, KS, Pamela Simmons of Boulder, CO, Debbie Simmons of Tilghman, MD, two sons, Guy Daubach (Marty Vincent) of Seaford, DE and Daniel Bland and his wife Linda, of Hurlock, a step-son Doug Bland of Waynesburg, PA, daughter-in-law Pat Simmons of Federalsburg, 16 grandchildren, 25 great-grandchildren, and 1 great-great-grandchild to be born in May, a brother Davey Lee George of Norfolk, VA, a faithful dog “Blue”, and 5 dear friends, Ginny, Margo, Ruth Ann, Minnie and Bunky. She was preceded in death by a son, Clinton M. Simmons, Jr., granddaughter Danielle Simmons, grandson, Scottie James Kraegenbrink, 3 great-grandsons, Cody Simmons, Dalton Stroud and Jeremy Stroud, and a brother Julius H. George, Jr.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday, April 21, 2011 at 1:00 p.m. at the Framptom Funeral Home in Federalsburg with Rev. Denzil Cheek and Rev. Billy Thomas officiating. Friends may call at the funeral home on Wed. from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. and on Thursday from 11:00 to 1:00 p.m.
