Herbert Thomas' Obituary
Herbert Warren Thomas of Thompsontown, near East New Market, MD, passed away on Wednesday, June 9, 2010. He was 76.
He was born on May 22, 1934 in East New Market, Dorchester County, Maryland the son of the late Fred Jolley and Elizabeth Ann Jackson. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his step parents, Harold Jackson and Louise Jolley, and his son, Jeffrey L. Thomas.
He enlisted in the United States Air Force in 1953. He married the former Barbara Mincey on July 15, 1955. He later retired from the Air Force after twenty one years of loyal service. He then began to work for the State of Maryland at the waste water treatment plant in Cambridge and later worked for the State Hospital as a CNA. He was proud of his family, accomplishments, and dedication to the service.
He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Barbara Mincey Thomas of Thompsontown, MD, three daughters, Vivian Thomas of Thompsontown, MD, Regena Thomas and her fiancée Dwayne Brittingham of Thompsontown, MD, and Lorna Thomas of Columbus, OH, five grandchildren, Jeffrey Jones of New York, Keontra' Thomas and his wife Alicia of Columbus, OH, Kierra Thomas of Cambridge, MD, Jerrad Thomas and Courtney Thomas both of Thompsontown, MD, six great grandchildren, and three sisters, Parthenia Goslee of Thompsontown, MD, Vivian Frock of East New Market, MD, and Lillian Magee of Federalsburg, MD.
In addition to his parents and step parents, and his son, he was also preceded in death by a sister, Alverta Lee and a brother Teat Jolley.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday, June 17, 2010 at 12:00 noon at Faith Community Church in East New Market, Maryland with the Reverend Jonathan Whitney officiating. Interment will follow at the Eastern Shore Veteran Cemetery in Beulah. The family will receive friends on Wednesday, June 16, 2010 from 6:00 to 8:00 at the Church, and one hour prior to the service on Thursday.
